Great and Holy Week in the Orthodox Church is the most profound, convicting, and inspiring time of year.
The tone of the services is overtly mournful and repentant, calling us to look not with judgment or condemnation at the people who arrested, tortured, mocked, and killed Christ, but rather to look inward at the ways we share in those same actions, and to come to Christ in repentance, joining Him on the Cross and sharing in His Resurrection.
We come to Christ and join in His suffering; uniting our pains, failures, and hopes to Him: the Savior and merciful Lord.
